Laila is an event dancer in Rangrasiya, turning from a non-threatening character to a female antagonist as the love story of Paro and Rudra progresses. Prior to the events of Rangrasiya, she was affiliated with Rudra as his lover for the past 8 years - although their relationship was entirely intimate, Laila fell completely in love with Rudra though he never harboured any feelings for her. Due to her ability to get in and out of many houses by dancing at functions, Laila acted as an informer for the BSD.

Background[]

Laila had met Rudra when he was 20 years old and from there on in, the two became lovers. She is a dancer for functions, prominently at weddings and engagement parties. For 8 years prior to the events of Rangrasiya, Rudra went to Laila every night and the two would engage in intercourse. As time went by, Laila fell pasionately in love with Rudra but he never reciprocated her feelings- he felt nothing for her and only saw her as a means to an end.

Laila met Paro as she performed at her Sangeet ceremony to Varun. There, she imparted some advice on men to Paro, explaining that there are only three types of men and she should know how to handle them. Eventually, Paro is saved by Rudra (though in her view, she is captured) and Rudra tries to break her will by forcing her to admit to her 'crimes'. Rudra ges to Laila asking for clothes for Paro as she is till in her wedding attire, but Laila furiously chucks him out and refuses him, telling him never to come to her regarding any other woman.

As Paro and Rudra's relationship develops - a reluctant, intense attraction ignites between them as their wedding draws near - Laila learns of Rudra's protective nature of Paro and becomes jealous, seeing a more mellow, softer side of Rudra only when he is with Paro. As the wedding draws nearer, Laila becomes more jealous and attends Paro and Rudra's Haldi Rasam, intending to spoil Paro's beaty as she beleives that Rudra has become enamoured by Paro's good looks. She enters the Ranawat Haveli with a sachet of powdered irritant.
